Empowering Change

The African Nurses Network's Journey Towards Health Equity

At The African Nurses Network (TANN), our journey began with a simple yet profound vision: to empower nurses and healthcare professionals to actively identify resources and foster opportunities for community improvement. What started as a Facebook group in 2016 quickly evolved into a global community of African immigrant and refugee nurses, united by a shared commitment to enhance the well-being of underserved populations.

Empowerment Through Service

At the heart of TANN's mission lies a dedication to nurturing a healthcare landscape characterized by diversity, compassion, and excellence in service. We inspire individuals to pursue nursing careers and guide them toward leadership roles within the healthcare sector. Our commitment to fostering cultural awareness and embracing diversity stands as pillars guiding our initiatives.

Addressing Healthcare Disparities

TANN recognizes the pressing need for diversity in healthcare. In Minnesota, where over 110,000 registered nurses serve, only a small percentage represent nurses of color, highlighting a significant gap. Through mentorship programs, public health forums, and collaborations with esteemed institutions, TANN actively addresses this imbalance by mentoring individuals into nursing and striving to increase representation from underrepresented backgrounds in leadership roles.

Join Us in Making a Difference

At TANN, our journey towards health equity continues. We invite nurses and healthcare professionals globally to join us in our mission to create a more inclusive and compassionate healthcare landscape. Together, we can make a meaningful impact and build a future where every individual has access to quality healthcare resources and opportunities.
